Pain point focus design aim to restore user's dignity and confidence

How we started this

Hygist _1_edited_edited_edited.jpg

For over a century, manual wheelchair design has remained largely the same. We noticed that the placement of the driving and supporting wheels often leads to users' hands and sleeves coming into contact with the wheels, creating a pathway for bacteria, especially in places like hospitals, nursing homes, and public spaces.

This not only increases the risk of illness but also affects users' dignity, as dirty hands and sleeves can be socially uncomfortable.

To address these issues, we developed the Hygie 1st mobility chair. It separates the driving and supporting wheels, using a chain or belt to transfer manual power. This design reduces the risk of bacteria transmission, providing a cleaner, safer, and more dignified experience for users.

Benefits and advantages

Our wheelchair offers better protection against dirt and bacteria than other products, lowering the risk of illness. Users don't have to wear dirty gloves or worry about their sleeves getting caught or soiled. The design also helps reduce medical expenses and boosts users' confidence in different situations.
